The world was at war. Kalan's father, {Insert Name} had been killed defending {Insert Village Name} during a recent raid. Kalan only a young man was now in charge of his village. He road out with men from the village and started a campaign of conquering the nearby villages. He was crowned at the age of 30, and began strengthening the Kindgom by building defences, infrastructure and a strong royal army to protect the land. Kalan was known for eating and drinking with his soldiers and was well respected. He fathered many children but only had one son with his wife Isael. The saying "a true son/daughter of Kalan" is given to those who are proven in battle.
Durng the later part of his reign, nords had begun moving south pillaging as they went. Kalan's son Emereth road out in force to meet them, greatly outnumbered the nordic tribe {Insert Name} had no choice but to lay down their arms. Instead of killing or imprisoning the Nords Emereth shared wine with them alone and made an offer, If the nords were to join with them in battle then land and titles would be granted, but only if they swear allegiance to the king. The nords accepted and a blood oath was made.
Kalan took to the battlefield once again and attacked the province of {Insert Name} with the nords by thier side. Kalan fell in battle during the campaign and Emereth took up the throne. The nords were granted lands, and some were given titles and a seat within the royal council. The {Insert Tribe Name} kept their word and sweared fealty to the throne becoming part of the Kingdom. Over a century Kalandria slowly expanded and built up into a great nation.
The fourth King of Kalandria Salbar was unable to father children despite trying with near half the kingdom. This is where the common saying Salbar's Curse comes from when a man is thought to be infertile. On his death bed at the age of 63 Salbar named his sucessor Bryce of Gelebert one of his closest advisors and a dear friend. King Bryce spent huge amounts of the treasury gold to improve the infrastructure of Kalandria as well as striking new trade routes which returned gold sevenfold into the Kingdom.
During the reign of King Sabien Kaladria erupted into civil war due to extremely high taxes imposed upon the peasants to fill the royal treasury with gold. Remi Boudon a minor baron led the uprising and endured a bloody war which led to the great battle of {Insert Name} where King Sabien was taken captive and beheaded by Remi. The people loved Remi, who was a natural strong leader but rooted to his land and the people. He was later crowned King Remi of Kalandria and spent most of his time building his Kingdom back up a long side the common people. Bourdon day is celebrated every year, and the crown provides small cakes to it's people in order to show appreciation for all the hard work after the harvest.
King Lucien de Boudon, the grandson of Remi led a great campaign of expansion of Kalandria attacking the Kindgom of Aelon with a monsterously large army. Aelon, unprepared was crushed under the might of Kaladria's forces. Lucien looked east to what is now the Common wealth of Aurelia. And one by one took it's nations which had united in desperation, the Kalandrians were far too organised and disciplined. Once conquered Lucien attemped to take the swamplands to build a gateway to the spice rich east. However his campaign failed with his heavily armed forced getting stuck in the bog and being picked off on by one by the local swampmen. The army was unable to meet the swampmen in battle and was attrited by disease. King Lucien de Boundon died from dysentery while attempting to besiege Fastenmor, the seige failed as trebuckets, catapults and rams all sank into the mud before being used. The army disbanded after the Kings death. However the Kindgom of Kalandria was now an Empire.
Emperor Arnaud de Boudon son of the late King Lucien took to the throne, with the fertile lands of Aurelia and the coast line of Aelon. The Empire had wealth like no other, and this drew the attention of the Nords. They lauched into northern Kaladria taking the City of {Insert Name}, the Emperor was furious beheaded his spymaster and levied troops to action from all provinces. {Insert Name} was beseiged by the Kalandrian army. While the city was surrounded the troops were given training from the veterans of Luciens campaign as well as some of the best weapons and armour money could buy. In truth, if the nords had met the army when they first arrived they would of cut through them like hot butter. But now they were disciplined and ready for combat.
News from the west came to the Emperors ears. Vagonbrei was raising an army and it looked like it was preparing to attack. Emperor Arnaud ordered the Hemlords send all their horsemen north and the contruction of seige engines to take down the walls and so a quick end to the seige. Before the trebuchets were finished the Nords surrended and were slaughtered. The Kaladrian army marched west and caught the Vagonbrians by surprise, driving deep into there territory.
