Kingdom of Vestir
Brief Description
Is the most westerly kingdom on the mainland and is inhabited mostly humans of Nordic descent. Its long coastline has made the kingdom vulnerable to raids over the centuries and the long line of forts and battles fought along the west coast has earnt the name iron coast. The kingdom is known for its fleet of ships and the great city of Highgarde is known for its beauty, wealth and variety of exotic goods and wares. The Cities walls have never been breached.
Brief History
During the first age what would become known as the Kingdom of Vestir was under control of the Meoalfr. However the land was sparsely populated by the Elves and was given up as part of the peace treaty of the First . During the second age the land was a part of Westnordland and was invaded by the first orc horde. After the war the region became known as Vestrsker. Later in the third age during the great Nord civil war a Kingdom with the same name arose and was one of the only Kingdoms to have it’s borders remain relatively the same. However the link with Westnordsland was broken.
The Kingdom of Vestrsker was invaded by Kalandria near the end of the third age. The walls of Highgarde weren’t breached but a ceasefire was reached which effectively made Vestrsker a puppet Kingdom. Vestrsker was the first Kingdom to rebel against the Kalandrian Empire which led to other puppet Kindgoms following suite for their freedom. The Kingdom was renamed post the rebellion and is now known as Vestir. The line of Kings shares a strong blood line with the Kalandrian Monarchy which some citizens don’t look on fondly.
Vestir is currently in an uneasy peace with Kalandria. There’s also an underground movement in Highgarde to kill the King as he is seen as not the true heir of Vestir. There is also talk that the old bloodline survived the Kalandrian purge and is ready to restore the Kingdom to its previous strength. Rumors of a new orc chief have arisen from the west and once again the threat of an orc horde is a reality. Vestir is weakened by rebellion and has few allies that would come to the Kingdom's aid.

Regions
Firot
Is the north most region of Vestir and contains a large population of Nords who have migrated south. It’s often raided by the Orcs and bandits, due to this it’s highly militarised and all male citizens 15 and over are required by Law to join the army at short notice. As a region it’s quiet poor and relies heavily on the northern seas for fish and whales. Firot is famous for its grand castle called Ridgewatch in the mountains.
Name by Tom Van Beek
Iron Coast
Like Firot the Iron coast has a high military presence due to it being on the raiding path of the orcs. The coast has quite a few beaches and the rocks are less sharp than the Firot region making it a more favourable raiding spot.

Capital - Highgarde

Wagrendale is a small hamlet just over half way along the Iron coast. It’s a common stop off point on the way to Highgarde and those that are visiting Eldath Grove.
The hamlet was founded when an Old man called Erik and his grandson Rikkon were on their way to the capital when the old man fell ill along the road. The grandson put the old man on their cart and walked as far as he could. Under the extra weight the cart broke beyond repair. The grandson carried the old man to an abandoned shack that had been burned by a previous orc raid.
Here they stayed, feeding off of the supplies they we’re going to sell at Highgarde. During the day the grandson would forage for food, fish and slowly build up the abandoned house. 2 weeks later the old man passed away. Rikkon had no reason to continue onto the City and had no family, he buried Erik on the hill behind the shack. He decided to stay and continue to work on the shack wanting to finish what he started. Eventually travellers came by and offered Rikkon money to stay for the night. Over the years the shack grew into an inn and is now a common stop off for those travelling to the Highgarde along the Iron Coast. Rikkon was laid to rest next to his grandfather by his children.
Others came and built their own houses. Although the hamlet has been raided over the years by the Orcs and by the Kalandrian empire. The Inn has always survived and been patched up with the help of the garrison from Fort Skalar would often sneak out for a quiet drink at the Inn.

Groves
Eldath Grove

Fort Skalar was first built by the western nords after the orc horde was driven out of Yarowyn in the second age. It served as a small outpost at first and only consisted of the knights keep and a few towers. As the Western Nords rebuilt, the fort was expanded and was fully stationed in case of another invasion.
Over the years the fort fell into disrepair especially during the third age when the Great Nord Civil war took place and the nation was splitting. During this time Fort Skalar belonged to the Kingdom of Vestrsker and only had a modest garrison due to it being on the iron coast whereas the civil war was raging eastwards. During this time, small raids were undertaken by the orcs but were always repelled. This however weakened the Kingdom of Vestrsker and the kings were no longer seen as being able to truly protect the people.
During the invasion of the Kalandrian Empire near the end of the Third age the Fort was expanded to encompass the main keep and further walls and towers we’re built. However the Vestrsker Monarchy was led by the late king’s son who was only 8 years of age (the king was suspected to have been poisoned by the Kalandrians). The fort fell and was controlled by the Kalandrian military even after the ceasefire had been signed.
Currently the fort is controlled by the Kingdom of Vestir however it only has half a garrison and the knights fort is currently more of less abandoned.
The fort commander’s name is Donadain Vassilon.
